<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support for an image recording material, which is excellent in mapping properties and has ink absorbency and is suitable for the support for an inkjet recording medium, and, in addition, an image recording material excellent in mapping properties, especially an image recording material, which is excellent in mapping properties and, at the same time, has favorable resistance to bleeding with time and water resistance and is suitable for the inkjet recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: This support for the image recording material comprises an undercoating layer provided on the surface of the side on which an image forming layer is provided, and has an image visibility, which is measured according to JIS H 8686-2 under the condition of the width of the optical grating of 2.0 mm, of at least 30%.
