PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method which extracts blood and measures it, when some problems remain in sensitivity and accuracy and special equipment is needed, and to provide a method capable of diagnosing a diabetic kidney damage on earlier stage. SOLUTION: In a deciding method for arteriosclerosis and diabetic kidney damage, the serotonin concentration in the whole blood, the blood serum, the platelet-rich plasma or the platelet poor plasma are measured, and a decision is made that arteriosclerosis or diabetic kidney damage progresses, based on the measured concentration. Especially, both the serotonin concentration of the whole blood, the blood serum or the platelet-rich plasma and the serotonin concentration of the platelet poor plasma are measured, thereby determining the degree of progress of the diabetic kidney damage, and grasping more minutely about a clinical state. Accordingly, a desired method is provided as the simpler method which extracts the blood and measures it, in order to comprehend the arteriosclerosis when some problems in sensitivity and accuracy remain and the special equipment is needed.
