PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molecular rectifying device exhibiting excellent properties to achieve a molecular-electronic logic element based on a cross-bar structure. SOLUTION: The molecular rectifying device has a general structure METAL<SB>1</SB>-CON<SB>1</SB>-BRIDGE-CON<SB>2</SB>-METAL<SB>2</SB>, wherein CON<SB>1</SB>and CON<SB>2</SB>are bonding groups or bonding parts and are mutually independent molecular groups bonded to METAL<SB>1,2</SB>in such a way that an adsorbate state having an energy close to the Fermi energy of a metal is formed in one or both of the METAL<SB>1,2</SB>/CON<SB>1,2</SB>interfaces, METAL is selected from metals and/or alloys of metals, and BRIDGE is a core of the molecule and is composed of pi-conjugate and non-conjugate parts.
