PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic gas meter for eliminating human error in setting security functions for the gas meter, and also reducing man-hours required for the setting. SOLUTION: Security functions corresponding to respective maximum service flow rates are previously stored in this electronic gas meter. When a shipping mode is canceled to start prescribed flow rate measurement, flow rate measurement is performed for a prescribed early-period learning period and its result is held. A flow rate equal to twice the early-period maximum flow rate which is the maximum flow rate during the early-period learning period is tentatively set as the early-period maximum service flow rate. A security function corresponding to the early-period maximum service flow rate is set as a tentative security function while referring to the content of a security function storage means 9A. When the early-period learning period comes to an end, flow rate measurement is performed for a prescribed late-period learning period and its result is held. A flow rate equal to 1.2 times the early/late-period maximum flow rate which is the maximum flow rate throughout the early-period and late-period learning periods is finally set as the early/late-period maximum service flow rate.
