PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotation detector for making it able to detect accurate rotation status of a rotor and a design method for the rotation detector useful for making it able to easily detect accurate rotation. SOLUTION: Two pairs of magnetic resistor elements M1 to M4 used for sensing the variation of magnetic vector as rotation detector for detecting the rotation status of a magnetic rotor RT based on the variation of the magnetic vector are arranged in the constitution with an inter-element pitch (inter-central distance of each element) PT corresponding to the inter-central pitch between a mountain TP and a valley BT provided around the rotor RT. The rotation status of the rotor RT is obtained by binarizing, under a specific threshold, a differential amplifier waveform obtained by differential amplification of each medium point of a half bridge formed each by the two pairs of magnetic resistor elements M1 to M4.
