PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing apparatus of an optical device which manufactures the optical device wherein each optical modulator is arranged in a design position corresponding to models with reference to a color-combining optical device. SOLUTION: A positioning apparatus 60 constituting the manufacturing apparatus includes a 1st positioning part 61 and a 2nd positioning part. The 1st positioning part 61 is constituted so as to be held by a placing part main body 50A, and includes: a 1st positioning part main body 611 having a design position defining surface 611B3 for defining the design position of the optical modulator in the optical-axis direction relative to the color-combining optical device; and a positional deviation measuring part 612 for measuring the deviation of the optical modulator held by a position adjuster and the design position defining surface 611B3 in the optical axis direction when being held by the placing part main body 50A. The 2nd positioning part includes a light-transmissive positioning plate with a design position defining pattern for defining the design position in a planer direction orthogonal to the optical axis direction of the optical modulator relative to the color-combining optical device when being held by the placing part main body 50A.
