PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle body reinforcing member capable of increasing the absorption energy compared with a conventional straight or bent pipe when an automobile is collided, and having excellent impact resistance. SOLUTION: A reinforcing member formed of a metallic pipe is mounted on an automobile body for impact resistance, and has a projecting bent part facing the outer face direction of the automobile body at least on one part in the longitudinal direction thereof, and a straight portion is provided on one or both sides of adjacent parts of the bent part. A recessed inversely bent part facing the outer face direction of the automobile body is provided on one or both sides of the bent part, or a straight part and a recessed inversely bent part facing the outer face direction of the automobile body is provided on both adjacent parts of the bent part.
