PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking device certainly keeping a stopping state of a handcart, and carrying out braking operation of a wheel even during traveling without a hitch. SOLUTION: In the handcart, a handle frame 3 wherein side rods 3b are oppositely arranged on both sides of a center rod 3a is raised at a rear part of a deck 1 equipped with a fixed wheel 2. A supporting piece 14 is protrusively provided outward on the each side rod 3b, and a side rod portion 12b of an operating lever 12 wherein side rods 12b portions are oppositely provided on both sides of a center rod 12a portion is journaled to the supporting piece 14 by a pivot 15 so as to rise and fall. An upper end of a mediating rod 10 is rotatably journaled to middle portions of the side rod 12b portions moving from a rear side of the pivot 1 of the side rod portion to front upper side when the operating lever 12 is raised. A lower end portion of the mediating rod 10 rotatably connected with a rear portion of a brake shoe 4 with a tip end spring-energized in a direction separating from the wheel.
