PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire with less manufacturing defects by preventing air from mixing into a side rubber adhesive face in a tire manufacturing step, and a manufacturing method thereof. SOLUTION: A side rubber is made into a two-layer structure of an inner layer side rubber part 6 and an outer layer rubber part 7. The inner layer side rubber part 6 extends along a tire width direction outer face of a carcass 3 from a tire width direction outer end of a bead part 8 to an end nipped between a belt layer 4 and the carcass 3. The outer layer side rubber part 7 extends along a tire width direction outer face of the inner layer side rubber part 6 with a position contacting a tire width direction outer side edge 2E of the tread rubber 2 as the other end, and the cross section is formed into an approximately wedge shape gradually tapered toward the end at a predetermined position.
