The stabilizers may be admixed with synthetic rubber latex or with rubber solutions or with the solid polymer, e.g. by kneading or on a roller, or in certain circumstances may be admixed with the monomers prior to polymerization. 0.1 to 10% by weight of stabilizer based on the polymer may be used. Examples describe the stabilization of 1, 4-cispolysioprene, polychloroprene and polyvinyl chloride. Other substances present in one or other of the examples are: cyclohexane, n-hexane, isopropanol, stearic acid, carbon black, zinc oxide, phenyl-a -napthylamine, paraffin, sulphur, dibenzthiazyl disulphide, diphenyl guanidine, phenthiazine, titanium dioxide, magnesium oxide, ethylene thiourea, an alkylsulphonic acid ester of a phenol-cresol mixture and dioctyl phthalate.
