It is intended to provide a detection marker for detecting esophageal cancer and a diagnostic kit. More specifically speaking, a detection marker for esophagus, lung and cervical cancers and malignant tumors in the urinary system with the use of periplakin; a detection marker for esophagus, lung and cervical cancers and malignant tumors in the urinary system containing an antibody against periplakin; a detection kit for esophagus, lung and cervical cancers and malignant tumors in the urinary system containing an antibody against periplakin; and a diagnostic kit with the use of a primer comprising the base sequence of periplakin.
