<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost and easy-to-assemble toner presence/absence detection means by improving the opposing position accuracy of a light emitting element and a light receiving element and reducing the number of components in an image forming apparatus which performs toner presence/absence detection by optical sensors. <P>SOLUTION: The detecting means using the pair of opposing optical sensors in the powder presence/absence detection within a powder container is constituted in such a manner that the external diameter of the optical sensor fits the inner diameter of a sensor-positioning and light guiding member, and the external diameter of the sensor-positioning and light guiding member fits an inner diameter of a light shielding member. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
