<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of determining a plurality of information about a development cartridge, and the developing cartridge freely attachably and detachably mounted on the image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The detection gear 85 of the developing cartridge 32 is provided with an abutting projection 94 selectively on an upper side or a lower side in accordance with the largest number of sheets of image formation. Also, a main part casing 2 is provided with a first actuator 102 abutting on the projection 94 on the upper side and a first switch 100 detecting abutting of the first actuator 102, and a second actuator 302 abutting on the projection 94 on the lower side and a second switch 101 detecting the abutting of the second actuator 103. When the developing cartridge 32 is mounted on the casing 2, whether the first switch 100 and the second switch 101 are turned on is inputted to a CPU 99, and the brand new cartridge 32 and largest number of sheets of image formation are determined in the CPU 99. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
