<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera which is capable of obtaining photograph of high quality and shortening the distance measurement time. <P>SOLUTION: A control part 1 performs exposure control to increase an exposure at low luminance. In the case that external light luminance detected by a photometric part 103 is equal to or lower than a prescribed luminance, the control part 1 calculates a distance to a subject on the basis of an AF signal resulting from integrating 300 electric signals by an output circuit 15. In the case that the external light luminance detected by the photometric part 103 is larger than the prescribed luminance, the control part 1 calculates the distance on the basis of an AF signal obtained by multiplying an AF signal resulting from integrating 20 electric signals by the output circuit 15, by a prescribed coefficient 15.
