PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid jetting device which can replace a liquid absorbing material for absorbing and holding a liquid leaked at the time of the replacement of a liquid storage means with a good timing, and to provide its maintenance method. SOLUTION: An inkjet type printer as this liquid jetting device is equipped with an ink cartridge, a feeding needle with which the ink cartridge is detachably connected, and first to fourth absorbing materials which absorb and hold the ink leaking from the ink cartridge or the feeding needle when the ink cartridge is attached to/detached from the feeding needle. In addition, the inkjet type printer is equipped with a control section, and an informing means. In this case, the control section calculates a total amount of the leaking ink from an ink amount leaking from one attaching/detaching of the ink cartridge which is set in advance, and the attaching/detaching frequency of the ink cartridge, and judges whether the calculation result by the calculation means reaches a threshold value being set in advance or not.
