PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve performance such as scalability and data transfer performance between different type I/Fs, maintainability, and reliability for boards/PK (packages thereof) constituting a DKC (memory controller) and a DKC configuration based on mutual connection between the boards/PK in a disk array device. SOLUTION: In this disk array device 1, a DKC 10 is constructed based on mutual connection between mix PKs 100 composed of a base PK 101 and a function PK 102 hierarchically connected to the base PK 101 and provided with individually separated functions. The base PK 101 to which the mixed connection of a plurality of different kinds of I/F-PKs 210 is allowed is provided with a package internal mutual connection network 103 for communication between the function PK 102 and the DKC 10. A processor mutual connection network 152 is also provided. Using processing in the function PK 102 and the base PK 101, the DKC 10 carries out data transfer processing. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
