PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of great reduction in number of meters connectable to a single power source due to increase in current consumption during deletion in a flash ROM in comparison with a meter having no built-in flash ROM. SOLUTION: When a timer becomes time-out in restarting deletion, a temporary stop instruction is written in the flash ROM for setting a temporary stop time in the timer, during deletion temporary stop, a deletion restarting instruction is written in the flash ROM for setting a deletion restarting time in the timer, and consequently, temporary stopping and restarting is repeated alternately. In this way, average current consumption in deletion can be reduced. Since the average current consumption can be controlled by regulating the temporary stop time and the restart time, an average current consumption matching an operation condition of the meter can be selected.
