PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply conduct axis alignment of an optical element within an optical connector in a highly precise manner. SOLUTION: The axis alignment is conducted by the combination of a connector main body A to which the plug section of an optical fiber cable is to be inserted and an axis alignment tool B which is to be inserted into the connector main body A in place of the plug section. An optical element 20 within the connector main body A can be displaced within the surface which is normal to the plug insertion direction. The axis alignment tool B is mechanically coupled to the optical element 20 while the tool B is inserted into the connector main body A and the optical element 20 is properly displaced to an axis alignment position by the mechanical coupling.
