PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film excellent in heat resistance and transparency and suitable for an optical use such as a retardation film. SOLUTION: The film is characterized by being constituted from a resin composition containing 100 pts.wt. (A) thermoplastic acrylic polymer having a glass transition temperature of 120°C or higher and 0.1 to 20 pts.wt. (B) low-molecular compound having two or more aromatic rings and by having a birefringence value of 6.0×10<SP>-4</SP>or larger. In one embodiment, the film further contains 1 to 100 pts.wt.
