PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external preparation for skin, containing a glycoside of hydroquinone including arbutin, a glycoside of ascorbic acid including ascorbic acid-2-glucoside, sulfated trehalose or the like, and their salts in a high concentration, given by using a measure of increasing viscosity stability. SOLUTION: This external preparation for skin contains (1) carrageenan in an amount of 0.5-2 mass%, (2) one, two, or more kinds selected from the glycoside of the ascorbic acid, the glycoside of the hydroquinone, and their salts in an amount of 1-10 mass%, and (3) the sulfated trehalose and/or its salt in an amount of 0.1-10 mass%. The ascorbic acid-2-glucoside is preferably used as the glycoside of the ascorbic acid and hydroquinone glucoside (arbutin) or hydroquinone maltoside is preferably used as the glycoside of the hydroquinone.
