PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powdery material in which time dependent optical characteristics are difficultly changed by compensating defects inherited to titanium dioxide imparting unnaturally smooth make up finish. SOLUTION: The powdery material is provided by coating a titanium dioxide-coated platy powder material with silica and/or alumina and hydroxyapatite. As the platy powdery material, one or more species selected from talc, sericite and mica are preferable. The constitutional mass ratio is preferably 45-70 mass% platy powdery material, 7-12 mass% titanium dioxide, 20-27 mass% silica and alumina and 1-7 mass% hydroxyapatite. The powdery material preferably has a five-layered structure prepared by coating the platy powdery material one by one with titanium oxide, alumina, silica and hydroxyapatite in this order. The powdery material is preferably brought to be contained in makeup cosmetics or UV-preventive cosmetics. The cosmetics are preferably solid powdery cosmetics used in summer.
