The method involves fitting of an optical element, which is in the form of a plane-parallel or nearly plane-parallel plate (2) made of a material, in the layer. The incoming light is totally or partially absorbs and converted into the photoluminescent radiation (3) e.g. fluorescence radiation. An independent claim is also included for the arrangement of measuring position of light beam in a layer.
