While power of a recording device is ON, a CPU (116) records a predetermined amount of content data received, in a continuous recording RAM (114) while updating. When a user presses a recording start button, the CPU records the received content data on a hard disc drive (115). After recording of the content data onto the hard disc is started, the CPU temporarily stops recording of the content data onto the continuous recording RAM and transfers the content data recorded on the continuous recording RAM to the hard disc drive. After recording of the content data onto the hard disc drive is completed, the CPU connects the content data recorded directly on the hard disc with the content data transferred from the continuous recording RAM.
