The invention relates to a machine and a method for engraving using a jet of abrasive material on a surface to be engraved, comprising a mechanism having two displacement axes (400, 410) in relation to the surface to be engraved. The inventive machine is characterised in that it comprises: at least two nozzles with different diameters, which are supported by the above-mentioned mechanism; and digital control means (1, 2) which can control the jet of abrasive material on the surface to be engraved using the aforementioned nozzles and which can move said nozzles in real time in a direction that is essentially parallel to the surface to be engraved with a programmed variable speed.
