<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide; a support member for image recording materials which has a high adhesiveness to a base paper when forming a polymer coating layer and is superior in aptitude to high-speed manufacturing and is superior in waterproof property and rigidity after manufactured and improves conveyability at the time of recording an image and allows an image of high quality to be recorded; a manufacturing method thereof, and an image recording material. <P>SOLUTION: The support member for image recording materials comprises the base paper and at least one polymer coating layer formed on both faces of the base paper, and the base paper contains ≥20 mass% non-wood pulp having a brightness of ≥80%. The manufacturing method of the support member for image recording materials includes at least a polymer coating layer forming step of forming at least one polymer coating layer on both faces of the base paper containing ≥20 mass% non-wood pulp having a brightness of ≥80% by fusing and extruding a polymer composition by 20 mm/sec.
