<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten recognition time in recognizing prescribed information such as a bar code or a character string from picked-up image data, and to raise a recognition rate. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing pre-stage part 71 performs image processing, which is common to printing and recognition, with respect to the image data picked up by an imaging part 91. An image processing part 72 for printing applies the image processing suitable for printing to the image data subjected to the common image processing. An image processing part 73 for recognition performs the image processing suitable for recognition in parallel. The image data subjected to the image processing suitable for printing is provided to a printing part 93.
