<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method to perform document processing by a document processing device at a distant location, using a handheld device. <P>SOLUTION: A handheld device transmits an electronic message requesting a listing of available electronic files to an information processor (PC). The PC transmits an electronic message, in response to the request containing a list of available electronic files to the handheld device. An electronic file is then selected from among the listing of available electronic files, and selection data are sent to the PC.
