<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify and reduce the cost of a structure that has the function of determining a distance to a reading object. <P>SOLUTION: A body case having a reading port 1c has therein a light receiving sensor 3, an imaging lens 4, an illumination part and the like for reading a two-dimensional code Q recorded on a reading object R, and also has a spotlight radiation part 6 for radiating a distance determining spotlight S of parallel rays. The relative size of the spotlight S in an imaging field F of the light receiving sensor 3 changes with changing distance L to the reading object R. When a trigger switch is operated on, a control circuit captures an image as the spotlight S is radiated on the reading object R, and determines the distance L from the size thereof to set a shutter speed. After the radiation of the spotlight S is stopped, under the radiation of illumination light, the light receiving sensor 3 captures an image of the two-dimensional code Q, which is then decoded. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
