PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an autofocus device of a hybrid AF system capable of preventing a main subject from getting out of focus in the midst of consecutive photographing. SOLUTION: When the decision is made that a difference between a subject distance P detected in a step S11 and a previous subject distance P0 stored is larger than a predetermined value (th) in the midst of consecutive photographing, that is, when a range-finding area comes off from the main subject, focusing operation is performed not based on the subject distance P detected at that time but based on the previous subject distance P0.
