摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a retrieval operation of a nozzle in a positive pressure purge manner with a simple composition and without needing user's handling work while limiting an additional apparatus for the retrieval operation. SOLUTION: Usually, a pressure roller 14 is located in a turnout position, and a mesh-press member 32 is located in the position of quiescent state (the first STEP). The mesh-press member 32 is the member in which a plurality of ink passages (holes) are formed in the shape of a mesh. If the retrieval operation is started, the pressure roller 14 descends first, approaches to a sub-tank 31 and is fixed (the second STEP). After that, an elastic supporting member 35 in the upper part of the sub-tank 31 is made contact with the pressure roller 14 due to the movement of a carriage 4 and is elastically deformed so as to dent in the internal space side of the sub-tank 31 due to a load applied from the pressure roller 14. Thereby, the mesh-press member 32 is impressed and moves to the downstream side (the third STEP), then the downstream side is pressurized, and ink or foreign matter is discharged from a nozzle 37.
