The connecting device has a circumferential seal (3) with off-set slit-like grooves (4,5) which open only radially inwards and are each associated with an engagement strip (6,7) of the connecting parts (1,2). The seal is fitted onto the radially outwardly aligned engagement strips and fits in a channel to bear against the contact bearing faces (11,12) on the connecting parts. The seal is formed from several foam strips arranged radially one behind the other.
