CYANINE DYE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new dye that reproduces records by a laser beam at ≤450 nm wavelength, exhibits excellent recording properties and is suitable as an optical information recording medium.

SOLUTION: The cyanine dye is represented by general formula (I) (Q1 and Q2 are each a nonmetallic atomic group necessary for completing a five-membered or six-membered hetero ring; R1 and R2 are each an alkyl group or the like; G1-G5 are each a hydrogen atom or the like).
