PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for dyeing polyamide fiber and wool fiber with an azo-based acid dye to obtain a dyed product of further improved light fastness. SOLUTION: The method for dyeing polyamide fiber or wool fiber using an azo-based acid dye comprises the following practice: the above fiber is dyed in a dyeing bath containing both of (A) the azo-based acid dye and (B) 0.1-10 g/L of p-phenylphenol, or treated in a dyeing bath containing (B) 0.1-10 g/L of p-phenylphenol before and after dyeing the fiber in a dyeing bath containing (A) the azo-based acid dye.
