In a spring-actuated and electromagneticallyreleased drum brake, a br ke shoe forms part of he magnetic circuit. A drum brake has shoes 5 with linings 7 applied to the interior of a drum 1 by a compression spring 6. An electromagnet 8 having two pairs of poles 10, 11 is energized to release the brake, in which condition the magnetic circuit is completed through the shoes. In other embodiments the applying spring is a tension spring, or only one brake shoe may be used. |
