Electrochemical sensor has at least an ionic liquid (4) as an electrolyte and several electrodes (1, 2, 3) of which at least one working electrode (1) has an active surface that is considerably greater than the geometrical surface of the working electrode. Said working electrode is covered with an electrolytic layer that largely covers the electrode surface, but not completely. The working electrode (1) is in direct contact with the surrounding atmosphere and the electrolyte.
