<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the oversight of an abnormal site and to improve diagnosis efficiency by shortening an image reading time when determining abnormality/normality of the respiratory function of a subject based on a plurality of chest medical images indicating different respiration phases. <P>SOLUTION: As for the chest medical images P<SB>1</SB>-P<SB>N</SB>arranged in the order of the changes in the respiration phase with the breathing activity of the subject, a displacement calculation means 2 carries out a positioning process for sequentially fitting the respective positions of local areas in the chest medical image P<SB>1</SB>to the positions corresponding to images P<SB>2</SB>-P<SB>N</SB>in this order, and calculates displacements of the respective local areas in the changes of the respiration phases between the respective images; a scatter degree calculation means 3 calculates V<SB>N-2</SB>from a scatter degree V<SB>1</SB>of a difference of the displacements for every displacement of the local areas between the respective images; and, when either of the scatter degrees V<SB>1</SB>-V<SB>N-2</SB>is larger than a threshold Th, a determination means 4 determines that there is abnormality in the respiratory function of the subject. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
