<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device, a process cartridge and an image forming apparatus in which production of uncharged toner is prevented, the charge amount of the toner can be stabilized, and thereby, an abnormal image due to carrier deposition on the base is prevented, and a longer life, higher reliability and high picture quality can be achieved. <P>SOLUTION: The developing device 4 has a mechanism of charging a developer to hold charges, holding an electrostatic latent image preliminarily subjected to charging/exposure steps, allowing the image to face to a developer carrier carrying the developer, generating an electric field to develop the image with the developer to visualize, and supplying a new developer according to the consumption of the developer. When changes in the charge amount of the developer on the developer carrier are approximated to q(t)=Aä1-exp(-t/tg)}, the electrostatic charge time constant tg of the developer in the developing device is shorter than the period of one rotation of a developing roller. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
