<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To downsize the constitution of a device at large by contriving the method of charging an electric double layer capacitor before its initial start thereby reducing the capacitor of a chopper. <P>SOLUTION: In a condition that a breaker 8 is opened and a switch 9 is opened, a switch 12 is switched on to charge a DC capacitor 7 by means of a precharge circuit 11. Then, the breaker 8 is switched on and the switch 12 is opened, and a capacitor 10 is charged by a chopper 13 while controlling the DC voltage of the power converter 6 to be constant. Then, the chopper 13 is stopped and the switch 9 is switched on, and a capacitor 10 is charged with DC power that is obtained by operating the power converter 6 as a converter. Since the charge by the chopper 13 is only in the initial stage of the charge, the chopper 13 gets off with small capacity, and the device configuration is downsized. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
