PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device for a liquid image forming apparatus capable of restraining the stick slip phenomenon of a cleaning blade when starting a member to be cleaned. SOLUTION: The cleaning device is equipped with a pressing varying mechanism which decreases the blade pressure of the cleaning blade 56 to the developing roller 52 when starting the developing roller 52, and increases the blade pressure of the cleaning blade 56 to the developing roller 52 when performing development. By such constitution, the stick slip phenomenon of the cleaning blade 56 to the developing roller 52 is restrained by decreasing the blade pressure of the cleaning blade 56 when starting the developing roller 52.
