PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing valuables from livestock dung as a raw material, which enables the continuous operation of a thermally degrading apparatus and the recovery of the valuables, while preventing the sintering of the raw material on its thermal degradation treatment. SOLUTION: This method for thermally degrading the livestock dung to produce the valuables is characterized by supplying the livestock dung alone or together with an auxiliary material for generating a high caloric value into a thermal degradation apparatus and then thermally degrading the material together with an alkali auxiliary added in a reducing atmosphere. The livestock dung is preferably composted cow dung, and the alkali auxiliary is preferably hydrated lime in a mixing ratio of 2.5 to 10%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
