摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photocatalyst for wide band optical absorption and the like which exhibits excellent absorbancy to ultraviolet ray as well as visible light, has photocatalytic activities to wide band light for a long term and is excellent in adsorption performance to an object to be decomposed and which is capable of effecting oxidative decomposition action, fungicidal action, anti-fouling action and the like. SOLUTION: The wide band optical absorption photocatalyst is characterized by comprising at least apatite having photocatalytic activities, a visible light absorbing metallic atom and an ultraviolet ray absorbing metallic atom wherein the ultraviolet ray absorbing metallic atom is at least either one of tungsten (W) and vanadium (V). In the wide optical absorption photocatalyst, the embodiment that the content of the ultraviolet ray absobable metallic atom is 0.001-0.1 mol% based on the total metallic atoms, the embodiment that the visible light absorbing metallic atom is at least one selected from chromium (Cr) and nickel (Ni) and the embodiment that the apatite having the photocatalytic activities includes a metallic atom with photocatalytic activities are preferable.
