922,989. Spraying apparatus. UNION CARBIDE CORPORATION. May 30, 1960 [June 6, 1959], No. 19101/60. Class 69 (3). A detonation gun for heating and spraying powder of the kind having an elongated barrel 10 supplied with powder at 12 and with fuel gas and oxidizing gas via valves 22 and 28 and a mixing chamber 24, is characterized in that the fuel and oxidizing gas paths from their valves to the barrel inlet 11 are of equal length. The valves are cam-operated by a motor 40 and when those valves are closed a valve 32 is opened to allow a purging gas to flow over them. A spark plug 16 is energized in synchronizism with the operation of the valves. In Fig. 2 a barrier 60 equalizes the flow paths from the valves 22, 28 to the barrel inlet. In Fig. 3 the three valves 22, 28 and 32 open into chambers 70, 72 and 74, and the chambers 70 and 72 feed into a mixing chamber 24 through passages 76 and 78 substantially identical in size and length. Chamber 74 connects with the other chambers via passages 80, 82 and 84.
|
