922,701. Automatic power-control. BRITISH TRANSPORT COMMISSION. April 26, 1961 [April 26, 1960], No. 14623/60. Class 105. Automatic control-apparatus for opening the circuit-breaker of the electric power equipment on a railway locomotive when, e.g. the locomotive pantograph passes from one overhead supply section to the next, comprises a Hall voltage crystal a which receives a transverse power supply from an oscillator b and co-operates with track magnets to produce an output pulse on passage thereover, a transistor circuit including a phase detector e, pulse former f, bi-stable circuit g and output circuit h, which on receipt of a first pulse input from the Hall crystal opens the circuit-breaker i in the locomotive power supply and resets the circuit-breaker on receipt of a second pulse. The arrangement is supplied from a stabilized D.C. source c, d and means j are provided for manual reset of the breaker. The Hall crystal 3 is disposed between a ferrite collector plate 32 and a ferrite rod 33 in a body 34 of synthetic resin material which is mounted beneath the locomotive by means of a plate 35. |
