The caged ball screw has a nut (2) on a spindle (1) with a spiral ball groove defining a load channel (8) for the balls (5). An external deflection (6) forms a continuous path for the balls between the two ends of the load channel. A drive wheel is on the nut to drive it as a toothed belt wheel (9), and the external ball deflection is within the axial extension of the drive wheel in a ring zone (12). The toothed belt wheel is an injection molded plastics component, and the ring zone is filled with a hardened plastics mass (20).
