923,032. Conveying articles through baths. LONDON RUBBER CO. Ltd. Sept. 20, 1961 [Sept. 20, 1960], No. 32257/60. Class 78 (1). In the manufacture of rubber articles by dipping, each row of formers is carried by a board 17, and a plurality of the boards is given a step-by-step movement along and between rails 11 by the action of pushers 21. Each pusher 21 is pivoted at 19 to a trolley 12 running in guides 11, the pusher 21 being counterbalanced by weight 22, and being influenced by arm 24 carrying roller 25. Roller 25 is adapted to be engaged by ramp 26 when the latter is advanced by cylinder 29. The trolleys are connected rigidly together by bars 13 and are operated reciprocably by cylinder 16 connected thereto at 14. As each trolley reciprocates, each cylinder 29 advances its ramp 26 to engage its roller 25 to cause the lowering of pusher 21 into engagement with a board 17. Thereby a batch of boards 17 is given a simultaneous advancing movement corresponding to the movement of the piston of cylinder 16. This length of movement may be increased by the provision of a linkage 31 between two trolleys 12 as shown on the left of Fig. 1 so that as the trolleys reciprocate the pivot 34 strikes cam 32 to extend the linkage and thus give the leftmost trolley 12 an additional movement. When it is required that a batch of boards 17 should remain stationary during the movement of the trolleys, cylinder 29 is not actuated so that its pusher does not engage its batch and reciprocates without effecting movement of the batch. |
