Vehicle door lock system with lock and latch housings

A vehicle door lock system comprises latch mechanism housing 720 and a lock mechanism housing 710 combined together as an integrated unit. The latch mechanism housing 720 accommodates a latch mechanism 730 that maintains a closed state of a door to a main body of a vehicle and enables the door to be opened in response to a door handle operation. The lock mechanism housing 710 accommodates a lock mechanisms that enables the door opening operation in an unlocked state and disables the door opening operation in a locked state. A signal cable 737a is connected to a courtesy switch 737 that comes into abrasive contact with a cam surface 731d formed on a latch to detect a position of the latch. The cable 737a extends from the inside of the latch mechanism housing 720 and is nipped and held between the latch mechanism housing 720 and the lock mechanism housing 710.
