PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically adjust the timing of the emission of distance measurement light and the accumulation of electric charges in a CCD according to the distance to a subject as to a three-dimensional image detecting device which detects the three-dimensional shape of the subject by irradiating it with light. SOLUTION: A subject is irradiated with distance measurement light for a certain time. The reflected light from the subject is photodetected by a dimming sensor for a stroboscopic unit. The distance to the subject is calculated from the quantity of the reflected light photodetected by the dimming sensor. A delay timeΔt1 is found from the obtained distance. The subject is irradiated with the pulsating distance measurement light S'3 and a CCD starts accumulating electric charges for an accumulation period TU1 a timeΔt1 after the distance measurement light S'3 falls. Distance information regarding the three-dimensional shape of the subject is calculated from hatched parts of the reflected light S'4 photodetected by the CCD for the accumulation period TU1. |
