The invention relates to a base plate (1) which is used to close a crankcase (2) of an internal combustion engine on the underside thereof. Said base plate (1) is made of individual plates (EP(i)) having the same circumference. Said individual plates (EP(i)) can have the same thickness or a different thickness. Said base plate is produced by compacting the individual plates by glueing them or soldering them to the base plate (1).
