<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a zoom lens suitable for a liquid crystal projector, for example, and having excellent optical performance all over a projection distance by satisfactorily correcting aberration associated with focusing while realizing the miniaturization of an entire lens system. <P>SOLUTION: The zoom lens is equipped with a plurality of lens groups including a lens group GF arranged nearest to an enlargement side and having negative optical power, and performs zooming by moving one or more lens groups other than the lens group GF out of the plurality of lens groups in an optical axis direction.
