PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device that can increase the efficiency of hidden surface removal processing. SOLUTION: The image processing device comprises a hierarchical Z-buffer 160 for storing a hierarchical Z value for each block divided from a rendering area of an image representing three-dimensional computer graphics, a polygon Z value selection part 132b for selecting a polygon Z value that is the Z value of the foremost pixel out of pixels at the vertices of a polygon, a block Z value calculation part 132d for calculating a block Z value that is the Z value of the foremost pixel in the block out of pixels included in a plane formed by the polygon, a Z value selection part 132e for comparing the polygon Z value and the block Z value to select the value nearest to the point of view as an estimated Z value, and a hidden surface elimination part 132f for canceling the rendering processing of the polygon in the block if the estimated Z value is a value behind the hierarchical Z value.
